Awkward Racist Response to ‘Family Feud’ Zombie Question Causes Outrage

There was an awkwardly uncomfortable moment on the television game show “Family Feud, on Wednesday, and a video of the gaffe has some people laughing while others didn’t find it funny at all.

Asked to name something she knows about zombies, “Family Feud” contestant Christie had a kneejerk response that left host Steve Harvey speechless. Instead of responding with one of the more expected answers such as “They are scary” or “They eat people,” Christie said they are “black.”

First there was an awkward silence by Harvey and the studio audience, but then the opposing team, who happen to be African-Americans, laughed out loud with disbelief, and the audience eventually joined in the laughter.

Harvey turned his back to the camera, and the contestant followed up her response with, “It’s up there [on the answer board]. It’s up there!”

Harvey quickly cut off Christie before she could cause any more damage-  “You shut up, lady” – which might have been the comic relief needed to keep things from spiraling further downhill.

According to Christianpost.com, fans took to social media sites Facebook and Twitter to sound off on the incident, with some labeling Christie a racist. Others jumped to her defense, saying it was obviously not a racist comment but rather the contestant clearly misspoke after her mind went blank. Some, however, were not buying that, and throughout Wednesday an increasing number of comments about the incident have been finding there way onto social media sites.
