Another Top Dawg: Schoolboy Q ‘Man Of The Year’

Kendrick Lamar might be the head of the pack at his TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) camp, but ScHoolboy Q is undoubtedly second-in-command. Q has released a new song called “Man Of The Year” which is ironic given Kendrick and TDE’s recent controversy with GQ  magazine over Kendrick’s “Man Of The Year” cover.

As reported by thefader.com:

“Schoolboy Q’s latest has got nothing to do with TDE’s recent tiff with GQ, but it’ll likely benefit from it with good Google News ranking anyways. ‘Man of the Year’ was first teased at the end of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’ video back in May, and will be featured on the NBA Live ’14 soundtrack, which drops [on Tuesday]. ”

“Man Of The Year” is another banger from ScHoolboy Q, and he and the rest of the TDE crew are proving they are more than just Kendrick Lamar.

According to hiphowired.com:

“It’s clear that TDE will continue to apply pressure on the rap game with their next up, ScHoolboy, who returned with a new record ‘Man Of The Year.’ In just the opening seconds, this cut proves it’s a worthy candidate for constant rotation in any given playlist. It’s plain and simple folks. If you’re a ScHoolboy Q fan, there’s a great chance that you’ll enjoy this release, as it dons many of the Los Angeles rapper’s alluring qualities.

“Q’s in-and-out of the pocket flow is potent over the orchestral, choir-driven production, the chorus is catchy, and the rhymes are honest. ”

While the ScHoolboy Q “Man Of The Year” track will be released on the NBA Live 14′ soundtrack, fans are eagerly awaiting Q’s album, Oxymoron. An official date is supposed to be locked down by ScHoolboy Q and TDE rather soon, according to reports, and ScHoolboy had previously hinted that the album would drop in January 2014.
