Irving is known as one of the league’s finest ball-handlers currently playing. Rice can attest to that after his embarrassing moment with Irving.
Irving was unstoppable in this match-up, tying his career high with 41 points. He scored 18 of those points in the fourth quarter and overtime. In the end, Irving shot 14-for-28 from the field with four rebounds and five assists.
Tristan Thompson added 15 points and 12 rebounds and Jarrett Jack added 13 points off the bench for the Cavaliers, who had dropped five of their last six games entering the contest.
“We kind of made it up on the fly, that is how we played tonight. It was tough at first, but Kyrie stayed with it. All of our guys stayed with it, but Kyrie did a great job tonight,” said Cavs head coach Mike Brown.
The Cavs held off the Washington Wizards, 103-96, in overtime.
