Atlanta Hawks rookie guard Dennis Schroder has been suspended one game by the NBA for punching Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins in the crotch on Tuesday.
The incident happened in the fourth quarter when Schroder tried to fight through a screen and struck Cousins below the belt. At the time Schroder was not called for the foul, which angered Cousins. Soon after, Cousins retaliated by shoving Hawks Al Horford to the floor. Cousins was charged with a flagrant foul and benched for the rest of the game. After further review, the league downgraded Cousins’ flagrant to a standard foul after they realized Horford flopped Cousins’ push.
Schroder will serve his suspension Thursday when the Hawks visit the Denver Nuggets.
Here’s a look at the foul that got the No. 17 pick in the 2013 draft sidelined for one game.
