Jill Scott has signed on to play one of James Brown’s wives in the upcoming biopic, “Get On Up.”
Scott will be acting opposite Chadwick Boseman in the film that will track Brown’s rise to fame as well as his subsequent drug addiction, arrest for domestic violence and impending bankruptcy.
It is unclear which wife Scott will portray. As for roles of the other two wives, those actresses are still unknown.
Scott also joins Dan Aykroyd among the newest casting additions for “Get On Up.” Aykroyd will play Ben Bart, the president of Universal Attractions, the agency that represented Brown for decades.
In addition to Scott and Aykroyd, Viola Davis and Nelsan Ellis have also been cast.
Tate Taylor will direct a script from Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. The film is expected to hit theaters October 17, 2014.
