Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is the truth. Saturday afternoon, Winston and the Seminoles demolished the Maryland Terrapins,  beating them 63-0 to improve to 5-0.

Winston, in just his fifth college game, added to his case on why he should be mentioned in talk of the Heisman Trophy candidacy. He threw for five touchdowns and 393 yards as No. 8 Florida State beat Maryland.

Florida State didn’t get off to a blazing start and was only leading 7-0 heading into the second quarter. Then, Winston and the FSU offense went crazy, where they steamrolled the Terrapins defense by passing the ball all over them.

The freshman player is the first FSU quarterback to throw five touchdowns in a single game since Christian Ponder in 2009. Winston has now thrown for 17 touchdowns and 1,441 yards for this season.

“It felt like a little league football game out there,” Winston said. “It was 12 o’clock, the sun was out. I don’t think I saw a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day.”

The large range in score tied for the worst loss by a Top 25 team all time. The other was No. 11 Texas’ 66-3 loss to UCLA in 1997.
