Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez welcomed their first child into the world over the weekend, making Martinez a first-time daddy and 5-year-old Nahla a big sister.
Halle Berry never released her due date to the public, but after seeing shots of the pregnant actress at an Earth, Wind & Fire concert in L.A. a few weeks ago, it was obvious that the time was near.
Berry’s reps confirmed that she gave birth to a boy on Saturday at Cedars Sinai in L.A. and that the baby boy was given a clean bill of health.
There was some fear that the baby or mother would encounter some serious health issues due to Berry’s pregnancy at age 47, but luckily they are both fine.
As medical experts explained weeks ago, the star’s chances of encountering health issues were drastically reduced thanks to her healthy lifestyle.
In fact the same experts also pointed out that the number of women getting pregnant in their 40s has been on the rise; many resulted in perfectly healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
As for the “X Men” star’s husband, this is his first time becoming a daddy, although he has already been a father figure to Berry’s daughter, Nahla, who she had with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
Despite the fact that Olivier Martinez isn’t Nahla’s biological father, the love and affection he shows the adorable tyke proves that none of that matters.
In fact, Martinez has been spotted out and about playing with Nahla more often than Aubry has lately.
Of course, we’re sure the moment is bittersweet for the award-winning actress who has been fighting for more restricting laws regarding the paparazzi’s access to children.
She pointed out that although she has chosen a public lifestyle, it isn’t fair that her children have to suffer as well.
At one point, cameramen actually arrived outside of Nahla’s school to take pictures of her, which obviously frightened the child.
As everyone knows, there is nothing the paparazzi love more than photos of a celebrity baby. It wouldn’t be surprising if they decided to pull out their best telescopic lenses to snag a picture of the baby boy.
Fingers crossed that the photographers try to have a little more decency than that, but let’s not get our hopes up.
Either way, congratulations to the adorable newlyweds on the new addition to their family.
