Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel will be out for a few weeks because of a sprained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The new injury won’t need surgery but he will have to sit out for few weeks, according to Buffalo Bills’ coach Doug Marrone.

The rookie QB was hurt in the Bill’s 37-24 loss at Cleveland on Thursday night. On a 14-yard run Manuel was hit by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson and was slow to get up.

Marrone said he doesn’t know the exact timetable for Manuel’s return at this time.

“What we need right now is for it to calm down, see where we’re at,” Marrone said, “see where he’s at in probably a week ,to see how it’s progressing, where he is, then get it down in to a little bit more of a window.”

Jeff Tuel, an undrafted rookie, came in for Manuel but only managed to complete 8 of 20 passes for 80 yards.

Marrone said the Bills will look into acquiring another quarterback.
