The Miami Heat is making some major changes in staff, most notably the hire of former player Juwan Howard as assistant coach.
According to USA Today:
“The Miami Heat promoted Andy Elisburg to general manager and hired Juwan Howard as an assistant coach, those moves among a slew of front-office maneuvering announced Saturday. Elisburg has been with the Heat since the team’s 1988 inception. He will continue reporting to team president Pat Riley and CEO Nick Arison.”
In addition to Howard and Elisburg; Adam Simon was promoted to assistant general manager; Dan Craig was promoted to assistant coach for player development – Howard’s previous position; Chad Kammerer to director of NBA scouting; and Keith Askins to director of college and pro scouting.
This news comes on the heels of the Miami Heat’s extension of head coach Erik Spoelstra’s contract.
