With the release date of “Thor: The Dark World” right around the corner, promotion of the Marvel film has been revved up a notch – releasing another set of posters this week. One features Idris Elba as the Norse god, Heimdall – to the chagrin of many fanboys – while the others show Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Christopher Eccleston as the film’s villain, Malekith. In addition to the posters, a new TV spot and featurette has surfaced online, providing new footage of Thor in action.
This next Thor adventure finds the hero leading the forces of Asgard in battles across the Nine Realms, defeating the evildoers who have run rampant since the Bifrost was destroyed. When the Dark Elves, an ancient and powerful race with no love for Asgard, appear bent on universal destruction, Thor must team up with his Earthling love, Jane Foster, and his adopted brother Loki to save the universe.
Much of the first film’s cast returns, including star Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also stars in the film as the other lead villain, Kurse.
The film is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, and based on a screenplay penned by Christopher L. Yost, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
“Thor: The Dark World” is set for a November 8, 2013 release date.
