Al-Shabab: Fighters in Kenya Mall Attack Will Not Surrender

Abu Omar, a military commander of the Somali group al-Shabab, spoke to Al-Jazeera about the siege of Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya. He said the fighters holding hostages inside the mall will not negotiate with the Kenyan government or security forces and will not surrender.

On the third day of the bloody standoff with al-Shabab militants that has killed 62 people, the Kenyan government announced that its military had freed nearly all the hostages at the mall and had killed at least two militants.

Al-Shabab, a militant group based in Somalia, claimed responsibility for the attack.
