Money Mayweather Apologizes to De La Hoya for Instagram Post

Floyd Mayweather Jr. apologized to Oscar De La Hoya on Monday night, after posting an offensive photo of the former boxer to his Instagram account. The image was a meme joking about De La Hoya’s recent admission of entering a drug rehab center.

“It’s unfortunate that a stupid picture was posted to my Instagram account earlier today that was not posted by me or authorized by me to post,” Mayweather said.

The picture pokes fun at De La Hoya’s rehab situation and says, “I gave Canelo [Alvarez] the wrong Blueprint I was high.”

Before the Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez fight last Saturday, De La Hoya said he had given Alvarez the blueprint to beat Mayweather. Mayweather won pretty easily, which may have prompted the response.

Mayweather said he wishes the Golden Boy Promotor well in his rehab stint, despite all of the issues they have had in the past.

His apology continued:

“As I clearly stated during my fight week and again in the post-fight press conference, I completely support Oscar De La Hoya and his family during this difficult time in his life. Although we have had our differences in the past, I stand by him unconditionally and would never personally disrespect him or anyone who struggles with addiction.

“I apologize to Oscar and his family for this posting. I wish him well and am rooting for him to win this fight, too.”
