Atlanta Falcons players have been getting hurt left and right.
On Tuesday, the team announced that linebacker and defensive star, Sean Weatherspoon, has been placed on injured reserve because of a sprained foot.
Also, the team lost running back Steven Jackson to a thigh injury, which may sideline him for two to four weeks. They have already lost two players to season-ending injuries: fullback Brady Ewing to a separated shoulder, and defensive end Kroy Biermann to an Achilles’ tear.
Weatherspoon is key to Atlanta’s defense, leading the team with 95 tackles last season, including three missed games. He also had eight sacks and defended 13 passes in his three-year career already.
Coach Mike Smith and general manager Thomas Dimitroff will have to lean on two undrafted rookies, Delaware product Paul Worrilow and Texas State’s Joplo Bartu, to pick up the slack now that Weatherspoon is out indefinitely.
