BET Says Yes to ‘Being Mary Jane,’ No to ‘Reed Between The Lines’

BET has canceled “Reed Between The Lines,” but ordered a second season of actress Gabriella Union’s “Being Mary Jane.”

Apparently Union, who plays a successful TV news anchor, has made the network happy after the pilot premiered in July to 4 million viewers. Producers Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the couple behind the popular BET show “The Game,” are also behind Being Mary Jane.

Meanwhile, according to Deadline, Reed Between the Lines has been canceled after two seasons, one of which has yet to air.  This may mean that the second season won’t see the light of day. The show starred Tracee Ellis Ross as Dr. Carla Reed, a successful psychologist, and Malcolm-Jamal Warner as her husband.
