Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ Video: Naked But Not Twerking

Miley Cyrus released a new video for her single “Wrecking Ball.” In the video, Miley isn’t twerking all over the place like she did at the MTV VMAs, but it isn’t lacking controversial content. The visuals are of Miley in a cement room that is being demolished. She takes some time out to swing around on a wrecking ball, while naked. In classic Miley fashion, she doesn’t go half way, the video is so revealing you can see the tan lines on her breast. According to

“Directed by Terry Richardson, the ‘Wrecking Ball”‘clip, which premiered on Monday (Sept. 9), first shows Cyrus in an extreme close-up in front of a blindingly white background; she’s crying as the song begins, and the whole affair recalls Sinead O’Connor’s iconic ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ video. Later, she’s wearing a white crop top and matching bottoms, smoldering as she carries a massive hammer and walks toward the camera in slow motion.

“Of course, the most shocking moment of the video comes about 75 seconds in, when a nude Cyrus is shown straddling a swinging wrecking ball and lip-synching along to the pop ballad. The 20-year-old smashes more walls and licks the aforementioned sledgehammer before eventually collapsing in the middle of the rubble.”

Of course there will be more talk about the singer, and once again it will be unwarranted, or at least a double standard. Miley’s new video is relatively tasteful for her, key word: relatively. It is definitely not something we haven’t seen from other pop artists. In fact, Lady Gaga does the same thing and it’s called art, while Miley gets criticized. People hate Miley because she’s young and doesn’t seem to care what people think—much like a recent collaborator, Kanye West.

“Wrecking Ball” is the second single off her upcoming album “Bangerz” which is due out on October 8th. The pop star also announced that she will be performing on “Saturday Night Live” October 5th.
