The Philadelphia Eagles had an intense moment in practice Thursday after a scuffle broke out between wide receiver Riley Cooper and cornerback Cary Williams. Video captured quarterback Michael Vick as he separated the two fighting players.
Vick spoke to reporters about the brawl after practice saying, “I try to be the peacemaker, but these young dudes don’t respect me.” Vick is 33, Cooper and Williams are 25 and 28, respectively.
Vick continued:
“Our maturity level’s gotta be on a whole different plane. Regardless of who the catalyst was for the whole fight, that doesn’t matter. We’ve gotta be men. We’re not guys who are out on the street, fighting one another. We’re teammates … It’s game week. We don’t have time for that. I don’t. It’s a distraction.”
The reporters asked Vick if he and Williams were on good terms, as Vick appeared to be angered by him during the altercation.
“Oh, yeah, 20 seconds and that’s it,” said Vick. “Everybody moves on.”
