Djimon Hounsou’s Stance on Marriage Offers Clue to Kimora Lee Simmons Breakup

Djimon Hounsou revealed he is no fan of marriage.

The actor was out promoting his latest film, “Baggage Claim,” which centers around a young woman looking for a husband or “husband potential,” one month before her sister’s wedding.

Hounsou, sitting among his male co-stars, told HipHollywood,

“The idea of marrying somebody can actually ruin the union.”

Hounsou’s take on marriage may have provided some insights into his failed relationship with Kimora Lee Simmons. They share a child together, but never formally married in the U.S.

Instead, they opted for a traditional ceremony in Hounsou’s native country Benin. Despite their unusual take on marriage, Simmons publicly called Hounsou her husband.

Hounsou added: “Some people are happily together for decades and they get this fantasy idea to go and get married, when it’s just about papers basically…Eventually, it just goes sour.”

Do you agree with Hounsou’s take on marriage?
