Leaky Business: iPhone 5C Photos and Videos Appear on the Web

With roughly a week to go before Apple’s Sept. 10 event, the Internet has been abuzz with leaked photos and videos of the upcoming devices. The event is expected to reveal a new iPhone 5S and a cheaper 5C. Chinese website iapps.im leaked photos of a plastic iPhone that appears to be the iPhone 5C in various colors. According to engadget.com:

“The [new] image  is impossible to authenticate, but it’s a tad more sympathetic and it comes from a batch of photos of yellow, pink and blue plastic iPhones (or perhaps knock-offs) that briefly appeared on Chinese site iapps.im before being deleted at the request of a ‘relevant party.’ Although there are definitely some echoes of Nokia’s Lumia 620 here, the close-up shot of the blue model suggests we may be looking at something a bit thinner, with slightly less rounded edges, and with a non-removable unibody that may also have a more serious matte finish.”

The iPhone 5C is expected to be a cheaper, plastic version of Apple’s popular smartphone which the company will release to better penetrate third world markets. Apple’s previous strategy was to sell their older model phones at discounts for price conscious consumers. However, in emerging markets people want new devices. They just don’t want to pay hefty price tags, especially as most phone companies abroad don’t subsidized the cost of phones as they do in the United States.

The iPhone 5C is expected to be unveiled Sept.10 and available for purchase shortly thereafter.
