Downward Spiral: Lamar Odom Arrested for DUI

Lamar Odom was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to sources.

The NBA veteran was taken into custody by a California Highway Patrol officer who said he was swerving while driving his white Mercedes-Benz on the San Fernando Valley Freeway at 3:54 a.m. local time. The police report said Odom’s vehicle was traveling in a “serpentine manner” before exiting the highway.

The police report also states that the ball player refused to pull over when authorities tried to stop him, eventually coming to a halt minutes later. Odom showed “objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated,” the report said.

After Odom was taken to the Van Nuys jail, he reportedly refused to take chemical tests and was subsequently booked for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at 5:01 a.m.

The basketball player made news earlier this week for allegedly using crack cocaine. It was reported that he was staying at a Los Angeles hotel and friends were trying to help him deal with his drug problem.
