Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: Robert Griffin III to Join Washington Redskins Live Action

Robert Griffin III will rejoin the Washington Redskins in regular team activity. On Tuesday, the quarterback will take part in his first 11-on-11 drills at the team’s training camp.

Earlier today, in the team’s press conference, Griffin showed up with a new hairdo — cornrows instead of braids. He then said that his return from knee surgery is in a “new phase,” where he will return to live action and begin to work in 11-on-11 drills in practice.

RG III has only participated in the 7-on-7 drills thus far in training camp. Coach Mike Shanahan has been careful about bringing his second-year player back into the regular activities, despite Griffin’s pleas to get back on the field for full team drills.

It is unknown at this time when Griffin will play in an actual game. Shanahan has already told the star quarterback that he would sit out all of the preseason games, although Griffin says he’s been lobbying to play. Griffin says he’s hoping to change the coach’s “hard no” answer to playing in the preseason to a “soft no.”
