Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton star in “Half of a Yellow Sun,” from Nigerian novelist and playwright-turned-filmmaker, Biyi Bandele. “Half of a Yellow Sun” is a drama that brings together the lives of four people during the struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria in the 1960s, starring Ejiofor and Newton as two lovers who are part of a wealthy family dealing with the turbulence of war.
“Half of a Yellow Sun” is Bandele’s first entrée into film and is slated to be featured as an official selection in the Toronto International Film Festival in September. John Boyego and Joseph Mawle from “Attack the Block” also co-star.
