Angela Simmons isn’t letting much slow her down, not even her health.
Despite a recent hospital visit earlier this week, she was still front and center during the launch party for her new e-commerce site, AngelaIAM.com.
“It’s just crazy,” she told The Huffington Post while explaining the photo she posted on her Instagram with IV’s sticking out of her arm. “I mean it just goes to show you sometimes you do have to slow down. I have some little issues. I’m going to deal with it, but I’m just thankful that I’m here and I’m able to have this day today.”
In addition to restoring her health, Simmons is also focused on the site’s launch, which she co-founded with Alicia Crutchfield, Angela I Am’s creative director.
The site features an array of items ranging from shoes and accessories, to dresses and even hair. Simmons added that eventually she wants the site to carry plus sizes, but for now it will focus on up-and-coming designers.
“It’s important to support young up and coming designers, stylists, people who have talent who aren’t necessarily able to have a platform,” she explained. “But this platform is already built, people are checking it out, so why not help each other? It’s really about that at the end of the day…helping another person grow.”
Though she didn’t elaborate on any of the specific brands being sold on the site, the 25-year-old entrepreneur can relate to being a new designer, since she’s working on the launch of her line, Angela by Angela Simmons.
While the Fashion Institute of Technology graduate clearly has a lot in the works in the fashion world, we couldn’t help but ask her if her “106 & Park” gig, alongside Bow Wow, would eventually turn into a permanent one.
“You never know, but I’m doing so much with my fashion and just empowerment, so we’ll see. I say never say never, so you never know.”
