Denver Nuggets Join the Hunt for Mike Miller

The Denver Nuggets have joined Oklahoma City and Memphis in pursuing Mike Miller, who was released from the Miami Heat via the amnesty provision, according to sources close to the process.

The Nuggets are making a big push to get Miller, but last week, he reportedly had a meeting with new Grizzlies owner Robert Pera and CEO Jason Levien.

In addition, he sat with the Thunder general manager Sam Presti. According to an ESPN.com source, both All-Stars Kevin Durant and Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol have both participated in trying to recruit to former Heat player.

Heat president Pat Riley had claimed he did not plan to amnesty the healthy 6-foot-8, 218-pound forward, who had previously suffered from back injuries.

“Mike is as healthy as he’s ever been, and he’s worked very hard in strengthening his back,” Riley said on June 26, prior to Miller being amnestied, according to FOX Sports Florida.

Miller averaged 4.8 points per game for the Miami Heat while making 59 starts.
