Get Up On This: Big Sean Debuts New Song ‘Fire’

Big Sean performed a new song “Fire” on stage at Yahoo Wireless concert in London. The new song is assumed to be from his upcoming album “Hall Of Fame,” which is set to be released on August 27th. Although the Detroit rapper hasn’t put out an official studio recording of the new track yet, the performance has been drawing attention across the web. According to hiphopwired.com:

“Pulsating drums thump over a sample that chants ‘fire’ repeatedly throughout the stellar beat. Sean can be heard spitting witty bars about his ascension to fame, encounters with women, and his love for his hometown.”

Big Sean is hoping this is the first step in ensuring that “Hall Of Fame” will put him in that kind of company. And he’s confident that his sophomore effort will do so. As reported by complex.com:

“He released his debut album, ‘Finally Famous,’ in 2011, and the Detroit MC explained that his sophomore set is on a different level musically, and so far the feedback has followed suit. “Every person or MC that I’ve respected musically, that I’ve sat and played this album for has respected me back and been like, ‘Man, you bout to murk.'”

The rapper also confirmed the rumor that he and fellow Detroit legend Eminem were in the studio together. But Sean doubts that their collaboration will make it onto “Hall Of Fame” due to timing. As he told mtv.co.uk when asked whether they managed to lay down a track together, Sean explained:

“We were trying to make the collab work for my album but due to timing issues it’s probably not going to work out. You’ll get a collab though, just probably won’t be for Hall Of Fame.”

Big Sean will add to what has already been a great summer of rap albums—record- setting paces actually. We’ll see if he’ll take his place amongst the rap elite, or if he’ll fall into the dreaded sophomore slump.

In the meantime, check out the new song “Fire” and tell us what you think.
