As Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 prepares to swing back into theaters, Entertainment Weekly has released a cover photo featuring Andrew Garfield as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Jamie Foxx as the lightning bolt-throwing villain Electro.
Up until now, the best images we had of Jamie Foxx as Electro were from spy photos snapped during on-location production shoots in Manhattan. Those photos showed Foxx under a hood, with the glowing face characteristic of his post-Electro conversion.
The Comic-Con inspired EW cover shot is the first official Electro photo. In it, we see Foxx’s Electro facing off against Garfield’s wall-crawler.
The details of what happens in this sequel are heavily guarded, but the EW cover suggests Electro actually is the main villain of Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man 2.
We’ve seen actor Paul Giamatti filming scenes as The Rhino and we know that Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin, so we know Spider-Man will be grappling with more than one formidable foe.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will be released in 2D and 3D in U.S. theaters on May 2, 2014.
