It includes revealing interviews with well-known artists, scholars, friends and family members that tell a vivid story as colorful as the subject himself. The autobiographical work of Iceberg Slim, thought to be the genesis of blaxploitation films and gangster rap, continues to influence artists today.
“Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp” is directed by Jorge Hinojosa and features commentary from Iceberg Slim, Ice-T, Chris Rock, Snoop Dogg, Henry Rollins and Quincy Jones.
“Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp” will first be available on iTunes July 12 and in theaters July 19.
