BET Awards Beef: Drake Attempts To Shut Down Rumors Chris Brown Phobia Caused No-Show

The BET Awards show has historically been marred by the violent beef between some of its more famous attendees. Rapper Drake apparently wanted no part of this infamous legacy,  and according to the rumor of the day, decided  to skip out on a scheduled performance and awards acceptance to avoid a potential altercation with archrival Chris Brown, who did attend the ceremony.

Drake’s last minute no-show reportedly caused a big mess for BET Awards producers “Everything is in flux. The producers are all pulling their hair out,” said a RadarOnline.com report.

The YMCMB rapper initially gave no reason for his absence, but rumors began to surface suggesting Drake was terrified at the possibility he may have to rub shoulders with Brown. HollywoodLife.com supported the rumors, claiming an insider told them “the reason Drake bailed out from the BET Awards is 100 percent all about Chris Brown.”

Considering Drizzy led the pack with 12 nominations and was honored with three of them — trumping nemesis Chris Brown, who only walked away with one prize (Fandemonium Award) – his unexplained absence wasn’t a good look.

This may have prompted the artist to jump on Twitter to explain why he was a no-show. While not mentioning Brown at all, nor directly addressing the rumors, Drake attempted to dispel the notion he was afraid to attend the award ceremony because of the R&B singer.

According to “No New Friends” artist, he has an album to finish and also needed to spend time with family before heading out on tour. “Thank you to BET and to the fans for voting! I’m home finishing the album and spending time w/ family before we begin our journey Sept 17,” tweeted the star in the midst of the swirling rumors.

On the other hand, there are alternate rumors suggesting that both Brown and Drake want to see their feud come to an end. Hopefully this is closer to the truth than the speculation surrounding Drake’s BET Awards absence.
