Chadwick Boseman, the star of the Jackie Robison biopic 42, is now being courted to star in the upcoming Ivan Reitman’s film Draft Day.
Boseman is being sought to play Vontae Mack, an outside Louisiana linebacker, whose athleticism is only overshadowed by his big personality. Vontae is a lively, principled, smart, audacious, big-hearted young man who has a direct line to Sonny, who’s very interested in his talent. Vontae makes it clear to Sonny he wants to be on the Browns, not just for himself but also for his family and especially for his three nephews. Vontae becomes stressed as the fate of the Draft and his future is uncertain.
The 42 star will join cast members Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Frank Langela, Denis Leary and Ellen Burstyn.
Filming for Draft Day is set to commence this month in New York City to get actual footage from the 2013 NFL draft at Radio City Music Hall, which is a major location in the script.
