Shut The Front Door: 'Basketball Wives' Movie + 'Jumping The Broom' Sequel In The Works

While rumors suggesting a Basketball Wives movie is being made have been swirling around for some time now, very few people believe the project would see the light day.  However, pigs must be flying because confirmation of the rumor has come straight from the horse’s mouth.

In a recent interview with Essence, producer Tracey Edmonds revealed she is in fact working on a Basketball Wives film with Shaunie O’Neal, but warned the show’s debauchery, which fans fell in love with, will be absent from the movie. Edmonds described the project as being an “uplifting movie with a lot of twists,” and also revealed a Jumping the Broom sequel is currently in development.

“There is a Jumping the Broom sequel in the works,” said Edmonds in the interview. “I am also producing a Basketball Wives movie with Shaunie O’Neal. It’s not based on the show and is an uplifting story with a lot of twists.”

Jumping the Broom …maybe, but how do you put “Basketball Wives movie” and “uplifting” in the same sentence? I’m sure Tracey is fully capable, but this move could alienate fans who can really appreciate a denigrating reality show based movie once in a while.
