In a new interview with EW, Will Forte made a very, very select number of cool people happy with this tidbit:
We are going to make MacGruber 2 for sure. Whether we have to do it with a video camera in our backyards – there will be some form of MacGruber 2.
Those cool people are the ones who recognize how great and funny MacGruber is. The Saturday Night Live sketch turned action movie parody bombed at the box office, but has gone on to become a cult hit. With good reason – it’s hilarious. Forte elaborated:
Jorma [Taccone], the MacGruber director, he had the idea to do a Kickstarter like two years ago. He kept saying ‘We should do a Kickstarter’ and we were like ‘Yeah, maybe at some point.’ He’s always ahead of the curve. That’s the lesson you learn — always listen to Jorma.
Truly, a valuable lesson for all of us. All we have at this point on the film is Forte’s promise. That’s good enough for me, for now.
