America’s Best Coffee Shops Include 2 From Atlanta

ATLANTA — Culinary website The Daily Meal released its list of America’s best coffee shops late last week, and this year’s list included two Atlanta coffee shops.

Octane Coffee (No. 31), with three Atlanta locations — plus one in Birmingham — offers not only their own roasted coffee, but they also offer local treats, including goodies from Sublime Doughnuts and Holeman & Finch.

And what’s the one thing you can’t get out of there without trying? Octane’s signature drink — the Ameri-cola: espresso plus sugarcane Coca-Cola, all served over ice. If it’s Atlanta, you knew Coca-Cola had to be in there somehow.

Octane Coffee is located on the west side at the intersection of Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road; they’re also in Grant Park at 437 Memorial Drive; and they have a “PocketBar” location tucked away in the Bank of America Plaza. If you’re in the Birmingham area, you can find Octane on Central Avenue in Homewood.

At No. 29 on the list, you’ll find Condesa Coffee, a quiet spot just off of Freedom Parkway (480 John Wesley Dobbs Avenue), and with a solid menu of goodies to go along with the heady aroma of coffee that hits you when you come in the door.

Locally sourced foods are on the menu, including such wonders as a ham and cheese panini with Riverview Farms ham, or the pretzel roll with a Holeman & Finch pretzel. Coffee is from Counter Culture Coffee, while Condesa’s tea comes from Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea. Chai comes from Atlanta’s Cabbagetown Chai.
