Porsha Stewart, of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, got a surprise this week–when her husband filed for divorce without telling her.
Kordell Stewart, 40, filed for divorce in Atlanta on March 21, citing irreconcilable differences. The former NFL player apparently did not tell his wife before the filing.
“[Porsha] was 100 percent completely blindsided. Friends are trying to contact her but she’s not picking up her phone or returning texts,” a source told US Weekly.
Stewart’s rep released the following statement: “Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her. Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith.”
After releasing the statement, Stewart, 31, posted a photo on her Instagram account, with the inspirational words “Difficult moments seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God.”
The shocking filing is even eliciting sympathy from Stewart’s RHOA enemy Kenya Moore. TMZ caught up with Moore, who of course had a few thoughts on the split. “I can’t say I was shocked — we all knew they had some problems going on. [Kordell] didn’t show up at the reunion,” she said. Moore also suggested the two might be able to work things out. “It’s unfortunate either way. You never want to see couples breaking up. [Maybe] they can iron some things out in their relationship. Maybe they can still make it work.”
Yet, Moore wishes Stewart the best regardless and has reached out to her co-star, “I know we’ve had our differences, but I don’t want to see anyone in pain.”
Porsha and Kordell married in 2011, trying the knot in a lavish ceremony that was featured on Platinum Weddings.
