Surprise surprise, Harvey Weinstein has wrapped his tentacles around a movie built around a famous actress pretending to be another famous actress. Look for this to get pimped hard come next Oscar season. The film in question is Grace of Monaco, a biopic of Grace Kelly, starring Nicole Kidman as the Hollywood starlet who became princess consort of the itty-bitty city state of Monaco. The film was directed by Olivier Dahan, who is familiar territory, having already done the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose. Weinstein had this to say about the acquisition:
“More than 30 years after her death, Grace Kelly’s story continues to be one of insurmountable allure, and we are so happy Olivier Dahan has brought it new life. As always, Nicole Kidman’s commanding performance is the perfect portrait of a woman who was not only royalty but who also remains a legend of the silver screen and fashion icon.”
His demonic glamour then reportedly slipped, revealing his true visage to a crowd of horrified onlookers, all of whom are now either dead or addled with bedlam. You may pray for their recovery, although they are now beyond all hope. Grace of Monaco comes out December 27th.
