Fantasia has been making a lot of changes in her life including her split from baby daddy Antwuan and her plans to transfer over to a new genre of music.
Fantasia dished about it all when she sat down for an interview with Sister 2 Sister.
The magazine gave Fantasia the cover she always wanted that JET rejected and in return she spilled all kinds of details about her life.
While we stand firm behind our opinion that Fantasia’s at home photoshoot just doesn’t make a great magazine cover, Sister 2 Sister caved in and used the photo with her eyes closed anyway.
Just as we thought, the cover looks bizarre and the styling is just distracting to be honest.
We aren’t really sure why her eyes are closed, but that combined with the way she is holding her head makes it look like she is fighting her way through a terrible head ache.
The giant ring on top of those shiny dominatrix gloves was enough to ensure that the magazine won’t be making it to the top of any of our coffee tables… it into our homes at all for that matter.
Anyway, the “Lose to Win” singer may not have been able to let go of her bizarre photos but she did finally manage to let go of Antwaun Cook.
“Me and Antwaun, as of now, we are not together,” she told Jamie Foster Brown of S2S. “I think it’s the best thing for us all. We had to learn how to become friends again. There was so much stuff that came out. We were all hurt along the way. There’s trust issues.”
She went on to admit that during her relationship with Cook, she was focused on everybody but herself.
“And I, at one point, I wanted to make everybody else happy,” she said. “To love him, to make sure Zion was okay, to make sure everything – but I had to get to a place where I had to learn how to love Fantasia.”
Fantasia also realized that chasing after any man in the first place just isn’t good idea and it’s a mistake that she will never let happen again.
“I think we both have a lot of regrets of how things just happened; it all happened so fast,” the 28-year-old powerhouse singer said. “I just went full-speed ahead and that’s why I was tellin’ you now. I think out everything before I do it. Everything.”
On a positive note, the American Idol winner feels like she may have finally taught Antwaun a much needed lesson.
“He’ll say, ‘I learned that you can’t play with people’s hearts,’” Fantasia said.
From the interview it didn’t seem like she was completely over Antwaun and it wouldn’t be too much of a shock to us if she got back together with him in the future. For now, however, the single mother is ready to focus on her family and her career.
In fact, she is ready to make some major changes when it comes to her music.
“I’m doing something different,” she told HipHopHollywood. “I call it Rock-Soul.”
She explained that the music she listened to growing up has had a major impact on her and now she is ready to embrace that even more.
“I grew up on good music, not only just R&B artists,” she explained. “I grew up on Elton John, Aerosmith, Queen, Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, all of these different types of music. So, I feel like I don’t want to be boxed in anymore on just one type of music.”
With her screechy voice and crazy range, the switch into the new genre should be relatively easy and she already has a major influence that she can learn from.
“I love the fact that Tina Turner, when she first came out, everybody loved her,” she continued. “She’s always soul, but she took a different direction, and I felt like that was her passion and where her heart was at.”
Her new album is scheduled to release some time in April after work on it failed to meet the original deadline set for this month.
