The upcoming Chris Porco Lifetime movie will air tonight. The Lifetime original film named Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story, is based on the highly publicized 2004 story of the young college student who butchered his parents as they slept in their suburban home, 20 minutes outside of Albany, NY.
A synopsis for the film describes the movies as:
The quiet town of Delmar, New York, was considered anything but dangerous…until 21-year-old Chris Porco was accused of brutally murdering his father Peter and disfiguring his mother Joan in a savage axe attack, a claim made all the more shocking when the case’s lead detective Joe Sullivan believed Joan had identified Chris as her attacker.
Weeks after the crime, however, Joan would refute Detective Sullivan’s story, while the town of Delmar and many of Chris’ former friends and girlfriends would also rally to his defense, despite Sullivan’s fierce mission to prove his guilt. Prosecutors believed that beneath Chris’ picture-perfect façade was a devious and cunning sociopath who would stop at nothing to keep his lies hidden. In the end, he was convicted of second-degree murder of his father, but many in the town of Delmar firmly believe the jury wrongfully convicted an innocent young man.
Porco, who is currently serving 50-years-to-life in the New York State prison Clinton Correctional Facility, filed a junction which temporarily but stopped the airing of the film. The convicted murderer, who hadn’t seen the film, complained that the movie is filled with errors and is a largely fictional unauthorized account of his story.
The attorneys for Lifetime Entertainment Services Inc. said Porco’s claim is “invalid” and argued that the movie is based on public documents from his court case, and mentioned that Porco could still sue for defamation after the airing if there are any valid claims.
The judge ultimately ruled in favor of Lifetime and the film will premiere Saturday March 23, (8pm ET/PT) on Lifetime and stars Matt Barr and Eric McCormack. Spoiler pictures and video below:
