Universal Studios has announced Indie Film director Colin Trevorrow will be directing Jurassic Park IV, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Almost 12 years since Jurassic Park III hit theaters and two decades after the franchise first erupted into theaters, it should be safe to say another installment is highly anticipated.
The odds seem to be against this fourth installment, though: Jurassic Park III is the lowest rated film in the trilogy on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
Depending on how much credit you give these websites, of course, plays a huge role in whether you are still excited to see the movie regardless of previous failures.
Perhaps there are more reasons to look forward to the next Jurassic film than one would think.
The legendary director, screenwriter, and producer who jump-started the franchise, Steven Spielberg, will be executive producing Jurassic Park IV. Being the director that he is, maybe he learned from the mistakes of the third film and will make the next installment something to look forward to.
If you are wondering why you may have never heard of Trevorrow as a mainstream director, it’s because he isn’t a mainstream director. His 2012 film Safety Not Guaranteed, although not released in theaters nationwide, received many accolades and has even nabbed Trevorrow several awards.
Jurassic Park IV is scheduled to debut in theaters June 13, 2014.
