Michael Jordan may have another child that he never knew about after an Atlanta woman hit the former NBA star with a paternity suit claiming he is the father of her 16-year-old son.
The woman is asking Jordan to pay child support and medical expenses for her son after 16 years of never pursuing anything from the NBA legend.
TMZ reported the lawsuit that was filed on Feb. 6 in Fulton County and it seems like Pamela Smith is serious about the allegations.
Smith claims that she is more than willing to take a paternity test to prove M.J is the father of her child.
According to Smith, she was sleeping around with Jordan while he was still married to his wife Juanita (with whom he already has three children).
The only thing that seems suspicious about the case is the fact that Smith became pregnant back in 1995, gave birth to her son in June of 1996, and waited until 2013 to come forward about the incident.
The good news for her is that it doesn’t matter if she is seeking child support charges just because she wants some quick cash or not. If Michael is the father of her teenage son, he’s going to have to fork over the money regardless of Smith’s intention – and she certainly has enough motivation.
According to Forbes, the basketball legend made about $80 million last year and is still pulling on tons of cash from sponsors and endorsements such as Nike and Gatorade.
“Jordan out-earns almost every member of the world’s highest-paid athletes 10 years after his last NBA game,” Forbes reported.
If you’re thinking Pamela is stepping forward because she’s angry, think again.
“She’s not bashing him,” Smith’s spokesperson told the Sun-Times. “There’s no animosity.”
Considering all the drama we see on shows like Basketball Wives we’re glad that Smith is remaining rational about the entire situation and actually helping prove that not every basketball player’s baby mamma is a nut case.
Jordan’s alleged son’s name is Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds (because a first, second and last name just wasn’t enough). Of course with such a lengthy name the teenager had to take on a new moniker so most of his friends just call him “Taj.”
Apparently Taj knew about MJ being his father and even took to YouTube to urge him to “stop being secretive” about having another son.
The athlete’s rep hasn’t made any comments about the allegations yet and there is no word out on how his 34-year-old fiancé, Yvette Prieto, feels about possibly having a teenage step son to take care of.
