Ben Affleck’s Argo has been receiving plenty of buzz in the awards arena. Most recently the real life drama was named by the Writers Guild of America as one of the top film scripts of 2012. Other film scripts who were also noted under this category went to Zero Dark Thirty.
Argo, in particular, has been receiving a lot of praise from award shows and has been the main topic for this years coveted Best Picture winner. However, the film will have some stiff competition in the category competing with Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook.
The Writers Guild of America Adapted Screenplay category battled with three dominant scripts that were in the running for the win, however, Argo’s screen writer Chris Terrio inevitable took home the prestigious title.
Overall, Argo gave a commanding sweep during the Guild awards receiving the Producers Guild, Director’s Guild, Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild’s ensemble acting award. If the recent awards shows are any indication, it seems like we may have a clear cut winner during the upcoming Oscars.
