'Desperate Housewife' No More, Felicity Huffman Lands New TV Gig

Well Felicity Huffman sure wasn’t a stay at home mom for long. The actress is making a triumphant return to television this fall in Fox’s new show Boomerang.

Huffman is known for her portrayal as the business savvy mom of 4, Lynette Scavo, on  Marc Cherry’s recently retired Desperate Housewives. However in Boomerang Huffman will not only be sporting an apron, but chances are there will be a gun neatly tucked in her front pocket. According to The Hollywood Reporter,  Huffman plays an assassin for the U.S. government. She’s plays Margie Hamilton, the matriarch of her Washington D.C. based family. Not only can she expertly kill and dispose of a terrorist, but she still has plenty of time to cook dinner. This actually sounds like it could be the plot of a Desperate Housewives episode, so maybe this new role isn’t much of a stretch after all…

John Wells is signed on as executive producer of the new series. Wells also happens to have executive producer credits for Showtime’s Shamless in which Huffman’s husband, William H. Macy, happens to star. Looks like Wells likes to keep it all in the family.

Huffman’s a two time Emmy-nominee for her role in Desperate Housewives. In 2005, Huffman was nominated for an oscar and won the Golden Globe for her portrayal of a transsexual female in Transamerica. She was also nominated for four other Golden Globes for her role in Desperate Housewives and Aaron Sorkin’s Sports Night. Do you think Boomerang has the potential to land Huffman any new statuettes for her mantle?
