Oprah Winfrey, the media mogul, sat down with Beyonce, the R&B mogul, to talk her love for Jay-Z and performing, but it wasn’t long before they were chatting about how there simply aren’t enough female moguls.
The girl power interview with Beyonce and Oprah just seems perfect. You have the queen of journalism and the queen of R&B sitting across from each other chatting it up, but are they are the only female moguls worth mentioning?
Of course not, but there are certainly a lot more men who have earned mogul status than women and Baddie Bey isn’t feeling that.
Blue Ivy’s mommy is the latest cover girl for The Gentlewoman magazine – the perfect fit for Bey’s feministic ways.
During her interview with the magazine, Beyonce revealed that she may be branding herself as Beyonce Carter now, but she’s still in control of her legacy.
“I’m controlling my content, controlling my brand and archiving it for my daughter and make sure she has it and she respects it, but there’s not enough of us that become moguls,” the 31-year-old megastar said. “And I think there are many ways to get there.”
It’s definitely too soon to see which route Blue Ivy will take to build her empire ( we’re hoping she sings like her mommy), but her mogul mom is certainly going to make sure she gets there, without any of the major bumps in the road.
Now that Jay-Z and Queen Bey have built their empire, they can easily assist their daughter in reaching her own dreams without having to experience sweaty Houston days with no air conditioning as Beyonce once did.
“I just have memories of when there was no air conditioning in the new building and we didn’t have an office,” she said. “It was like camping.”
Of course, that isn’t too bad of a hardship to go through to become Beyonce. People would probably have a much harder time just putting in all the hard work, practice, and sleepless nights that Bey put in, rather than the lack of AC.
Anyway, just as the “Dance For You” crooner made the plea for more female moguls, she had the opportunity to sit and chat with one.
The interview with Oprah on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” won’t air until Saturday, but you can expect to hear the curvaceous beauty discuss her marriage to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and her passion for performing – you know, the usual.
“I would not be the woman I am, if I did not go home to that man,” she told the talk show queen. “It just gives me such a foundation.”
She went on to explain that Mr. Carter is more than just a husband; he was actually her friend first, before they even started dating. We’re so glad he finally inched his way out of the friend zone.
