Cee Lo Green is being sued by concert promoters after the R&B singer allegedly pulled out of performing several Christmas concerts after already being paid $243,000.
All these years we were convinced that it was the Grinch who stole Christmas, but according to Cierra Management Group it was indeed Cee Lo Green who ruined Christmas for little boys and girls everywhere.
Cee Lo had been booked to do a tour called the “12 Days of Christmas” and the Cierra Management Group would have to fork over $100k per concert to bring in the Christmas spirit.
It wasn’t long before the company decided $100k per concert was simply too much money and they began negotiations with the “The Voice” coach to shorten the concert length. Instead of doing 12 days of Christmas the “Forget You” singer proposed doing only 6 instead.
Even then, the cost was way too much Cierra and they agreed to do only two concerts for $243,000.
You would think a man as holly and jolly as Mr. Green would be more than happy to spread some Christmas joy for a mere two days, but the lawsuit is claiming the concerts never happened.
The company even went so far as to accuse Green’s people of purposely creating the entire scheme with no intentions of putting on either of the shows.
It was all “a scheme designed to finagle funding capital for concerts that knew would not manifest,” the lawsuit said.
While much of the blame is falling on the “Fool For You” crooner, Cierra is claiming that it’s merely his people who were in on the fiasco – not Cee Lo himself.
Either way, it’s still threatening his money because the concert promoter is coming after him for supposedly refusing to do the two shows.
So how much would he have to pay for the two canceled Christmas concerts? A whopping $14.2 million.
Green isn’t even pulling in as much money as he did last year with his “The Voice” gig because both he and co-judge Christina Aguilera are taking a hiatus from the show.
They both claim they will return to their fun swiveling chairs next season after Usher and Shakira fill in temporarily.
“Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo,” Chairman of NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt said.
TMZ reached out to the soulful crooner for comment but nobody responded.
