Discovery Channel’s first scripted miniseries Klondike, will star Oscar winner Chris Cooper.
Klondike is based on Charlotte Gray’s novel Gold Diggers: Striking it Rich in the Klondike. The story is about Father Judge (Cooper) and five other strangers’ fight for survival and riches in the small town in the remote Klondike.
Chris Cooper, who won an Oscar for supporting actor in Adaption, has also starred in The Company You Keep, The Muppets, American Beauty and The Town. He also recently top-lined the HBO pilot The Corrections.
Discovery, Entertainment One (eOne), and Nomadic Pictures all co-produced the Klondike in association with Scott Free Television. Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) serves as both writer and executive producer alongside with Ridley Scott and David W.Zucker. Josh Goldin and Rachel Abramoqitz will also be writers and consulting producers.
Klondike is set to begin filming in March in Alberta, Canada, although an air date has not yet been released.
