The perpetually quirky Ellen Page is set to make her directing debut with Miss Stevens, and has already claimed the equally quirky Anna Faris for the leading role.
Ellen Page‘s talent in front of the camera has already been well documented. With roles in such films as 2005’s Hard Candy and 2007’s Juno, Page revealed her knack for the more dramatic and serious. In 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2010’s Inception, she showcased her ability and potential in terms of action. The time has now come to see what she can do behind the camera, according to Deadline.com.
Miss Stevens revolves around a teacher whose life seems to be in total shambles as she chaperones a group of high schoolers on a weekend trip to a state drama competition. While there, she rediscovers her own self-worth through the admiration and humanity of her students. Talk about living vicariously.
Anna Faris is set to play the titular role. Her live action work has been most recently featured in last year’s The Dictator while her voice work can be seen in 2011’s Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked and 2009’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Of course, her work in the breakout Scary Movie series stands on its own.
With the news of Ryan Gosling’s directorial project and Ben Affleck’s newfound swagger behind the camera, it makes perfect sense that someone of Ellen Page’s ability to naturally follow suit. While Faris is primarily known for her comedic roles, we’re sure she’s armed with some sort of range that has yet to be taken advantage of (well, pretty sure).
