'American Horror Story' Season 3 Adds Frances Conroy And Taissa Farmiga

Conroy as the “Angel of Death” in ‘AHS’ Season 2

Looks like even more familiar faces will be back for a haunting third season of FX’s American Horror Story.

Taissa Farmiga missed out on season 2, but will be back for season 3

The Angel of Death herself, Frances Conroy, was just confirmed for a third season on the hit show. Earlier today, co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted, “Thrilled to announce the legendary Frances Conroy is on board for next season’s American Horror Story .” Murphy loves using Twitter to announce his latest casting decisions. As we told you last week Murphy also confirmed via social media that actress Lily Rabe would return for season 3. Conroy joins Rabe, Jessica Lange, Even Peters, Sarah Paulson, and the recently cast Taissa Farmiga for the third season.

Farmiga, star of season 1, was noticeably absent from season 2 and Murphy couldn’t wait to bring her back for season 3. Murphy told Entertainment Weekly, “I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.”

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Murphy revealed that he missed the romance element between Farmiga and Evan Peters from season 1. Farmiga and Peters will likely be playing star crossed lovers yet again, but knowing Murphy and American Horror Story, their romance will be anything but easy.

Murphy also teased that another cast member from season 1 might be joining for season 3, only time (and Twitter) will tell.
