Chris Pratt Tops Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Watch out galaxy, funny man Chris Pratt is headed for you.

Chris Pratt has been cast as lead character, Star Lord, the films part-human part-alien leader of the upcoming  Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy originated from a series that began in the late 1960’s and focused on a super-powered team of humans, aliens and bio-engineered creatures who patrol the milky way. The film is part of Marvel’s phase-two plan that was introduced last year at Comic-Con.

Recently it seems that Pratt has been accepting more serious roles, a change from the lovable goof-ball he plays on Parks and Recreation. He recently completely altered his body with a dramatic weight loss and gain for his role in the highly acclaimed Zero-Dark Thirty.

On tap to direct the flick is James Gunn, also known for directing the 2006 skin-crawling film SlitherBased on director James Gunns’  genre of movies he has directed, and Chris Pratt’s typical funny-man persona, it leads us to the question: Will this film be serious or have a more comedic tone?

Looks like we will have a little more waiting to do, Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 2014 release date.
