After announcing earlier this week that Rowan Blanchard would be playing Riley Matthews, Disney is back, revealing that singer Sabrina Carpenter will be playing her partner in crime.
The 13-year-old actress will be play the “Shawn Hunter” of the series, Riley’s best friend, Maya Fox, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Maya is the only child, who has never known her father, similar to a situation like Shawn who was motherless. This is what make her relationship with Riley and Cory important. Maya is also a great student of life and knows how to attract people into her aura. A little on the edge she is fierce and loyal to Riley and vice-versa.
Pennsylvania native, Carpenter, is associated with Disney through her music. Signed to Hollywood Records, her first single “Smile”, was on the Disney Fairies soundtrack album which was charted on Radio Disney.
Disney’s Girl Meets World begins filming this month.
