'Girl Meets World': Meet Riley Matthews

Girl Meets World has found their leading lady to play the daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews for the spin-off of the 1993 hit television series.

Rowan Blanchard, 11, was casted to play 13-year old Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fischel).  Michael Jacobs, executive producer of Boy Meets World, is called back to produce the pilot for Girl Meets World.

“As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews,” Jacobs told the Entertainment Weekly. “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”

As stated in previous article, the show will focus on the young female Matthews, as she faces her own misadventures quite like her father. Her life shouldn’t be that challenging with her father being the new “Feeny” figure to help guide her through life’s learning experiences in this new age of time.

The Girl Meets World pilot will begin filming in February and is planned to air sometime in the fall.

Blanchard is best known for playing Cecil in Spy Kids: All the Time in the World.
