Rosario Dawson Joins Cast of ‘Queen of The Night’

Queen of the Night sounds like a vampire movie, and given Hollywood’s penchant for bloodsuckers, it’s easy to see why one might be swayed into thinking that was its intent. Instead, it’s a missing-child thriller from acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan, and it just added a stellar leading lady to its growing ensemble.

Rosario Dawson has accepted a key role in Egoyan’s latest, according to Variety. She’ll play the lead detective heading up an investigation into the location of an abducted child. Ryan Reynolds has already been cast as the girl’s father, who has been grieving her loss for eight years. However, he then starts to receive clues that suggest to him that his daughter is still alive. It sounds intense, and knowing Egoyan, there’s likely even more darkness lurking below the surface that we’re not yet exposed to.

Dawson, to her credit, finds time to work with some of the top directors in the industry, carving out a formidable career without having to fall into the traps that come with superficial celebrity. Egoyan joins an illustrious list of filmmakers who’ve found time to collaborate with the outstanding Dawson, from Oliver Stone (Hannibal) and Spike Lee (25th HourHe Got Game) to Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof). She’s currently filming scenes for Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City sequel (after appearing in the first), and can next be seen in Danny Boyle’s Trance, where she’ll join James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel in an art-heist thriller that involves hypnotherapy…
