Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence may be dangerous with the bow, but the award winning actress can also do damage when it comes to clowning Oscar nominees.
It all began when Lawrence said “I beat Meryl” while accepting her Golden Globe award. Some thought that she disrespected Meryl Streep by taking an unnecessary shot at the veteran actress. However, the Silver Lining Playbook star clarified her statement on SNL, reminding the audience she got the line from the movie, The First Wife Club. She then continued with “I would never trash talk any of my fellow nominees at the Golden Globes, but the Oscars is another story.”
Lawrence had little remorse as she lashed out against fellow Best Actress nominees Naomi Watts (The Impossible), Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) and French actress Emmanuelle Riva (Amour) during her SNL skit.
During her comedic monologue, she criticized Chastain and Watts by saying “Jessica Chastain… in Zero Dark Thirty, you caught bin Laden, so what; in Winter’s Bone, I caught a squirrel and then I ate it…! Naomi Watts, you know what else is impossible – you beating me on Oscar night.”
Lawrence didn’t leave out her nine-year-old competition saying to Wallis, “You think you can beat me? What are you talking about, Wallis? Also, the alphabet called; they want their letters back.” In the clip below we see Lawrence making fun of her elder Riva with the statement “an 85-year-old French lady, yeah I think I can take you. You know what I say about your Oscar chances, Emmanuelle? Emmanuel Riva-derci!”
It was all fun and games, Lawrence meant no harm by any of her statements and took the time out to reassure her fellow Oscar nominees that she was joking.
The actress is nominated for Best Actress for her role as Tiffany in Silver Lining Playbook.
