Condoleezza Rice Joins CBS News as a Contributor

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is now a CBS contributor. She joined the network’s Face the Nation panel on Sunday, where host Bob Schieffer announced her new position. Though specifics of her role with CBS were not outlined, a statement from CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager and President David Rhodes said that Rice “will use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad.”

Rice, 58, was the first African-American woman to hold the office of Secretary of State under George W. Bush. In the years since, she re-joined the faculty of Stanford University, working in the university’s Graduate School of Business. Rice recently criticized Republicans after last year’s elections, saying that her party would need to broaden its approach in order to maintain political strength.
